Booth Welsh are looking to add to the team and are looking for a Planning Engineer working in the Nuclear industry. We could hire someone on a permanent basis or an hourly rate, depending on individual.

As a Planning Engineer you will be a key member of the Strategic planning department working on the safe, quality, timely and within budget delivery of the stations shut down maintenance periods. Working as part of a team you will prepare outage plans and ensure that resources, spares, risk and plant realise is organised for a specific area. During the outage execution, you will monitor progress and support delivery, highlighting risk to the lead planner and Outage Group heads. An outage is a period during which the power station is shutdown for refuelling and/or essential maintenance. The Outage team coordinate preparation and delivery of several types of outages; statutory (3 yearly mandatory inspection and maintenance shutdowns), Refuelling Outages and Inspection Outages.

The role involves liaising with groups across the station, notably with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Supply Chain to develop and maintain logic linked & resourced execution plans for activities during outages.

Principal Accountabilities for Planning Engineer:
  • Develop fully logic linked and resourced level 3 (task) plan for specific plant areas, review historic similar plans to identify differences and review these with appropriate Station departments.
  • Integrate all activities in a given plant area, review logic & resource conflicts and match work scope to available resource.
  • Group work permit boundaries with SAP.
  • Co-ordinate use of common services & facilities within plant areas.
  • Maintain plans during outage execution phase by updating progress, tracking critical path, building in and managing the impact of emergent work and identifying any errors / improvements required in the plan.
  • Working with Operations to check and revise plans to maintain Tech Spec and other compliance requirements and to maximise ‘Defence in Depth’.
  • Play a role in post outage reviews, in particular by capturing all relevant OPEX from plan delivery and building the learning into future plans.
  • Provide support to Lead Planner / Outage Co-ordinator.
  • Identify and help to deliver outage optimisation opportunities.
  • Support activities to deliver Pre Outage Milestone Plans (POMP) for both statutory and off load refuelling outages.
Essential:
  • HNC in engineering or relevant technical subject.
  • Knowledge of basic planning principles.
  • Able to coordinate across different teams and with different companies and contractors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Planning experience would be a distinct advantage, especially someone that has used Primevera P6.
