Booth Welsh are supporting a long-established engineering and manufacturing business in the search for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their operations team in Glasgow. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on improving manufacturing processes, supporting production, developing CNC machining methods, and driving continuous improvement across a heavy manufacturing environment. The position sits between Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, and Industrial Engineering, offering broad exposure across machining, process development, tooling, lean manufacturing, routing creation, and shop floor support. You’ll work closely with operations, planning, production, and quality teams to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure components are manufactured safely, on time, and to specification. This role would suit someone from a machining or mechanical engineering background who enjoys solving manufacturing problems, improving processes, and being heavily involved in day-to-day production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify CNC programs using Fanuc and Mazak controls
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes for CNC and manual machining operations
- Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation, tooling details, setup information, and routings
- Support production teams with technical issues, process improvements, and machining queries
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities across the shop floor
- Analyse manufacturing performance to identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities
- Support tooling, consumables, lubrication, and machine maintenance activities
- Implement engineering changes and update production documentation where required
- Work closely with suppliers and internal departments to improve manufacturing performance
- Assist with process planning across machining, assembly, and testing operations
- Ensure manufacturing activities comply with quality, health & safety, and environmental standards
What They’re Looking For
- Time-served engineering background or apprenticeship within manufacturing/mechanical engineering
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Production Engineering preferred
- Previous experience within a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes including milling and turning
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Mazak programming
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience using SAP or MRP systems would be beneficial
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Additional Information
- Heavy manufacturing or precision engineering experience would be advantageous
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK
