This opportunity suits architects who enjoy shaping user‑centred solutions, guiding delivery teams and influencing technical direction across complex, meaningful projects.
About the Role
You will join a growing architecture community working on high‑profile digital programmes. You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of solution and technical design, aligning architecture to business outcomes, technology strategies, commercial constraints and governance standards. You’ll create clear architectural blueprints across business, data, application and technology domains, then work closely with multidisciplinary teams to bring those solutions to life. You will engage deeply with stakeholders, challenge assumptions and ensure delivery aligns to quality, security and sustainability principles. This role blends hands‑on architecture with leadership, coaching and contributing to bids, proposals and capability development.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end architecture aligned to business goals, technology strategies and constraints
- Produce solution blueprints with business, data, application and technology views
- Communicate architectural direction across governance boards and stakeholder groups
- Support and assure delivery teams implementing your designs
- Build strong senior‑stakeholder relationships and provide expert guidance
- Apply Agile, Scrum and DevOps practices in shaping and delivering solutions
- Contribute to presales, bids and solution proposals, ensuring viability and clarity
- Review Statements of Work for deliverability and commercial soundness
- Mentor others, support communities of practice and share architectural insight
- Keep pace with emerging technologies and their real‑world application
- Ensure work meets quality, environmental and information‑security standards
Skills and Experience
- Hands‑on experience in solution or technical architecture (title not essential)
- Strong foundation in software development, design and delivery
- Ability to support and assure teams implementing architectural designs
- Experience across Agile software delivery, DevOps and iterative development
- Working knowledge of architecture frameworks and modelling languages
- Ability to articulate business benefits and justify technical proposals
- Methodical problem‑solving and collaborative stakeholder engagement
- Strong communication skills and ability to guide senior stakeholders
- Familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman or Open Agile Architecture
Security Requirements
Many projects require SC clearance. Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain Security Check clearance, which typically requires five years of continuous UK residency.
Location and Working Model
Hybrid working with access to regional offices including Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London. Some travel to offices and client sites is required as part of normal working arrangements.
