A high‐growth digital and technology consultancy with a strong presence across UK Government and public services is hiring Software Developers at Consultant and Senior Consultant level. This opportunity suits engineers who enjoy collaborative delivery, XP practices and meaningful, socially impactful work.
About the Role
You will join a growing engineering community delivering user‐centred digital services across government, finance, utilities, healthcare and green energy. As a B Corp consultancy, the organisation balances profit with purpose and focuses on long‐term client outcomes rather than output. Developers work in agile, multi‐disciplinary teams and adopt pairing, TDD and iterative delivery. You will help clients understand problems, shape solutions and deliver high‐quality, maintainable software. Roles are available at Consultant and Senior Consultant levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement user stories and contribute to backlog refinement
- Use TDD, pairing and XP practices to deliver high‐quality software
- Collaborate with testers, product teams and designers
- Engage with clients, challenge assumptions and contribute ideas
- Support engineering communities of practice and knowledge sharing
- Mentor others and help develop team capability
- Shape technical direction and ensure sustainable delivery outcomes
Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of TDD and modern testing practices
- Solid knowledge of object‐oriented programming
- Experience delivering digital services in agile environments
- Comfortable with pairing, mobbing and XP‐style engineering
- T‐shaped approach with willingness to learn new technologies
- Consultancy or government experience is ideal, particularly at senior level
- Senior: strong breadth and depth, mentoring experience and ability to influence direction
Security Requirements
Most projects require SC clearance. We can only consider applicants who either hold SC or are eligible to obtain it.
Location and Working Model
The role is mostly remote. The company has offices nationally, with occasional UK‐wide client travel depending on the project, usually 1–2 times per month. All travel is fully expensed.
