Context

Boomtown is an organisation that prides itself on its unrivalled artistic output, cutting edge style and cultural content. It is led by its core values: Creativity, Connection, and Celebration. They are at the heart of everything we do. And we believe it's all about respect - for yourself, each other, and our beautiful planet.

CREATIVITY: In a world where conformity is valued over creativity, we want to provide a platform that nurtures artistic freedom and pushes the boundaries of creative expression.

CONNECTION: In a world where digital connection so often replaces physical connection, we cherish the depth of connection that comes from the gathering of humans.

CELEBRATION: In a world that can so often feel overloaded, we want to celebrate the very best this beautiful planet and all humanity can achieve in one almighty party where everyone is welcome.

RESPECT YOURSELF: In a world that can make us doubt our own worth, we want to provide a space for self empowerment, freedom of expression and most importantly self care.

RESPECT EACH OTHER: In a world that is deeply scarred by the open wounds of racism and prejudice, we want people of all backgrounds, beliefs, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities and races to know that you belong and we strive to keep you safe in our city.

RESPECT THE PLANET: In a world that is burning, we call on our collective humanity to come together to find solutions and care for nature, as she cares for us.

This year Boomtown is expanding which means a whole new district outside of our main arena and some changes for our campsites. However, each campsite will still host a campsite Help Point. The campsites are an opportunity for our audience to have some time away from the city, a time to relax and explore, a time to learn and plan what to do next. It makes an ideal opportunity for Boomtown to engage in a low level way to understand our audience better and engage them with our values.

Role Summary

The Changemaker Deputy Manager will be working closely with the Changemaker Manager to help deliver staff briefings as well as manage the welfare and management of our Changemaker volunteers and coordinators. These teams will be based across 5 different campsites (with Downtown having 2 help points for a total of 7 coordinators) and will be responsible for educating and surveying our audience on Boomtown's sustainable initiatives through surveys, quizzes and fun facts.

Based in our hub within the Changemakers Campsite as a port of call for the 115 volunteers, during live days you will visit all campsites, liaise with coordinators ensuring they are fully supported and information is fluid and easily accessible. You will also keep the stock of ecobond bin bags at a good level and ensure the welfare area of the Changemaker campsite, including tea, coffees and toilets, are fully stocked.

As a deputy, you will serve as an on‐ground resource for our Changemaker volunteers and coordinators and will work to elevate any issues up to the Changemaker Manager. You will be expected to deputise for the Changemaker Manager and step up if required with support from the wider team and the Event Operations and Sustainability Manager.

A thorough and invested knowledge of our green policies and expectations is essential; details will be provided in advance of your first day. Basic knowledge of the campsite areas and resources is also required.
