About the ideal candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed self-starter to take ownership of our search and AI presence, with a focus on strategy and technical SEO. This is an innovative and fast-moving space, and we need someone to stay ahead of trends while defining best practices. You will take the lead on our website and app, working with colleagues and agencies to make Books2Door a destination for readers and parents alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and prioritise high-potential opportunities to improve SEO performance and content effectiveness
- Develop and execute our Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) strategy, generating conversions through all AI and chatbot experiences, including ChatGPT
- Manage and update our Shopify websites and apps, working closely with our creative and social media teams to improve and grow them
- Lead technical SEO improvements, such as fixing crawl errors, improving site speed, structure, schema, and addressing indexing issues
- Brief new content for top-of-funnel search queries and optimise published content for performance
- Conduct on-page optimisation, including updating meta tags and improving internal linking, keyword research, and competitor analysis
- Implement SEO content best practices across existing pages and blog content to drive growth
- Using Digital PR, improve our domain authority & backlinks to drive website traffic
- Proactively problem-solve and support all marketing campaigns and team members with SEO work and ideas
- Monitor organic search and GEO performance data, identifying trends and opportunities, using tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console and Ahrefs
- Maintain our SEO tracking and analysis tools, ensuring data is accurate and actionable
- Prepare weekly monthly SEO & GEO reports and technical plans, including KPIs, flagging short-term trends and wins to the team and documenting our long term growth
- Communicate an understanding of how SEO and GEO contribute to the marketing funnel to stakeholders
- Document and share SEO best practices, and support upskilling across marketing team
- Collaborate with the ecommerce team to help ensure growth across sales channels
- Stay informed on SEO and GEO trends, techniques, and guidelines to enhance your skills
- Actively participate in training sessions and contribute to team discussions
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong working knowledge of on-page SEO, keyword research, and technical fundamentals.
- Able to brief and optimise content that balances ranking potential and user intent.
- Confident using tools like GA4, GSC, Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar.
- Comfortable analysing rankings, traffic, and conversion data to spot patterns or surface insights.
- Able to interpret performance dashboards and contribute to reporting with clear takeaways.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with content, product, compliance, and analytics teams.
- Can communicate ideas and updates clearly and proactively
- Receptive to feedback and quick to action it
