Bookouture is an award-winning, dynamic global publisher of bestselling commercial fiction. Our unique publishing model and transformative campaigns have created unrivalled international author brands. We connect stories, authors and readers around the world, publishing books that reflect the diversity of the societies we live in. Our submissions are always open as we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to share their story.

As our Head of Digital Marketing and Campaigns, you will be instrumental in shaping Bookouture's marketing future. Collaborating closely with the Digital Marketing and Campaigns Director, you will contribute to our comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, driving innovative and results-driven campaigns across all our publishing programmes: Bookouture, Second Sky, and Translate.

A core responsibility will be leading our digital advertising efforts, setting strategy and managing campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, Google, TikTok, and Bookbub. You'll also design and execute creative branding campaigns for high-potential authors and titles, continuously analysing performance to identify growth opportunities and optimise our approach. This includes overseeing testing programmes and collaborating with external freelancers and agencies.

You'll play a pivotal role in our organic social media, working with the Communications team to develop engaging strategies for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X/Bluesky, ensuring alignment with paid advertising for fully integrated campaigns. Overseeing reporting to assess account performance and identify effective content will be key.

Email marketing will be another core area of focus, where you'll develop and oversee the strategy across all campaigns, executing paid and organic acquisition initiatives to expand subscriber lists and drive continuous improvement in performance.

Beyond campaign execution, you'll demonstrate a strong growth mindset and owner mentality, providing insights and guidance to the Communications team, monitoring budgets for strong ROI, and presenting key performance insights and strategic recommendations to senior management. You'll drive expansion into new marketing channels while optimising existing platforms.

You'll regularly present developments and reports in company meetings and design marketing strategy for authors at acquisition and re-contracting meetings. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in developing our Communications team: line managing direct reports, training the team in commercial and analytical decision-making, ensuring quality control, and supporting recruitment. Staying current with industry developments and emerging marketing technologies is paramount. You'll analyse market trends to maintain our competitive advantage and share insights to recommend innovative approaches, contributing to cross-functional meetings within Bookouture and Hachette.

We are seeking an ambitious, results-driven Head of Digital Marketing and Campaigns with a genuine passion for commercial fiction and innovative marketing. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative and innovative thinker, adept at conceptualising, managing, and optimising multi-channel campaigns that consistently deliver strong ROI. They will thrive in taking ownership of campaigns and other areas of the business, proactively seeking to demonstrate success and continually looking for opportunities to improve the ways we work.

This role requires a proven track record in leading digital advertising across major platforms like Meta and Amazon, coupled with expertise in developing comprehensive organic social media and email marketing strategies. The successful candidate will not only be skilled in executing campaigns but also in analysing performance data, identifying growth opportunities, and continuously optimising approaches. They will always be looking to find new routes to reach readers and have a keen understanding of the best channels for campaign success.

An additional aspect of this position will be team development. We're looking for someone who will be an empathetic and inspiring line manager, who will train and mentor other team members, ensure high-quality outputs, and foster strategic commercial and analytical decision-making. The ability to provide insightful guidance, present strategic recommendations to senior management, and manage external relationships effectively is crucial.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be proactive in staying current with industry developments, emerging technologies, and market trends, consistently bringing innovative ideas to the table. This role demands a dynamic individual ready to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, award-winning publishing environment, driving expansion into new marketing channels while enhancing existing ones.
