As our Digital Marketing and Campaigns Director, you will be instrumental in shaping Bookouture’s marketing, communications and branding. Collaborating closely with the Digital Communications Director, you will contribute to our industry-leading marketing strategy, driving innovative and results-driven campaigns across all our publishing programmes: Bookouture, Second Sky, and Translate.

A core responsibility will be leading and overseeing our digital advertising, creating and implementing strategy and managing campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, Google, TikTok and Bookbub. You’ll also build and execute creative branding campaigns for high-potential authors and titles, and continuously analyse performance to identify growth opportunities and evolve our strategy. This includes overseeing testing programmes and collaborating with external freelancers and agencies.

You’ll play a pivotal role in our organic social media strategy, managing the Communications team to develop engaging social campaigns and aligning with paid advertising for fully integrated campaigns. You will also oversee reporting to assess account performance and identify effective content, and use validated learning to inform future campaign plans. Email marketing will be another core channel for you to develop and oversee the strategy across all campaigns.

In addition to driving ongoing improvement in performance, you will oversee paid and organic acquisition initiatives to expand subscriber lists. Beyond campaign execution, you’ll demonstrate a strong growth mindset and owner mentality, providing management, insights and guidance to the Communications team, monitoring the overall department budget for strong ROI, and presenting key performance insights and strategic recommendations to senior management. You’ll drive expansion into new marketing channels whilst continuing to optimise existing platforms.

You will regularly feed back developments and reports in company meetings and present our marketing and communications strategy for authors at acquisition and re-contracting meetings. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in developing our Communications team: line managing direct reports, training the team in commercial and analytical decision-making, ensuring quality control, and supporting recruitment. Staying up to date with industry developments and establishing best practice in emerging marketing technologies is vital to the role. You’ll analyse market trends to maintain our competitive advantage and share insights to recommend innovative approaches, contributing to cross‑functional meetings within Bookouture and Hachette.

We are seeking an ambitious, innovative and results-driven Digital Marketing and Campaigns Director with a genuine passion for both commercial fiction and creative marketing. The ideal candidate will be a highly creative, analytical and inquisitive thinker, adept at conceptualising, managing, and optimising multi-channel campaigns that consistently deliver strong ROI. You will thrive in taking ownership of strategy and campaigns, proactively demonstrating success, and continually seeking opportunities to improve how we work.

This role requires a proven track record of leading digital advertising across major platforms such as Meta and Amazon, coupled with expertise in developing comprehensive organic social media and email marketing strategies. The successful candidate will not only be skilled in executing campaigns but also in analysing performance data, identifying growth opportunities, and continuously optimising approaches. They will always be looking to find new routes to reach readers and have a keen understanding of the best channels for campaign success.

Experience in managing a team is vital, and a key aspect of this role will be team development. We’re looking for a supportive and inspiring head of department who holds themselves and the team to a high standard. You should be experienced in developing team members to ensure high-quality outputs and in fostering strategic, commercial, and analytical decision-making. The ability to communicate well between departments, present strategic recommendations to senior management, and manage external relationships effectively is crucial.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be proactive in staying current with industry developments, emerging technologies, and market trends, consistently seeking to drive innovation at Bookouture.
