Role Description: The Senior Commercial Specialist supports the execution of Booking.com's FinTech commercial strategy by driving day-to-day commercial execution, supporting payments-related initiatives, and contributing to revenue and adoption growth across FinTech products. This role operates with a high degree of ownership and autonomy, applies strong commercial judgment, and actively connects operational execution with business outcomes. Sitting within the Commercial Partnerships team, this role plays a key part in enabling scalable commercial execution, supporting partner-facing initiatives, and improving decision-making through structured insights, stakeholder alignment, and high-quality operational follow-through.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Commercial Execution and Enablement: Support and independently execute commercial initiatives related to payments and FinTech products. Translate commercial priorities into clear actions, ensure readiness across internal teams, and contribute to initiatives that drive partner adoption, revenue uplift, or operational efficiency. Proactively flag commercial risks or opportunities and support mitigation or optimization actions.
- Stakeholder Management and Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (product, legal, finance, operations, etc.) to support commercial initiatives and ensure alignment between commercial intent and operational execution. Provide clear context on business objectives, trade-offs, and priorities to keep discussions focused and outcome-oriented.
- Commercial and Business Support: Contribute to commercial analysis, reporting, and insights that support decision-making across FinTech initiatives. Help assess performance, identify trends, and support the evaluation of commercial opportunities, partner behaviour, or adoption drivers within payments and payout flows.
- Operational Readiness, Process Quality, and Execution: Support and independently manage the planning and delivery of commercial and payments-related initiatives, ensuring operational readiness and high execution quality. Own workstream timelines, follow-ups, documentation, and stakeholder communication to enable smooth and scalable execution. Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve process clarity, and strengthen documentation standards, while proactively identifying potential blockers and proposing solutions ahead of escalation.
- Task executions: Take ownership of assigned workstreams and tasks end-to-end with minimal supervision. Balance speed and quality while handling increasingly complex topics independently. Provide context, structure, or guidance to junior team members when relevant to enable progress.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial, partnerships, business development, strategy, or operations, preferably in payments, FinTech, e-commerce, travel, or digital platforms.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business models, revenue drivers, partner economics, and adoption.
- Experience independently managing complex commercial initiatives and workstreams end-to-end.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data and insights into actions.
- Proven ability to work effectively across Product, Finance, Legal, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
- Proactive, ownership-driven, and comfortable operating with autonomy and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Payments or FinTech experience is a strong advantage.
Benefits & Perks:
- Annual paid time off and generous paid leave scheme including: parent, grandparent, bereavement, and care leave.
- Hybrid working including flexible working arrangements, and up to 20 days per year working from abroad (home country).
- Industry leading product discounts - up to 1400 per year - for yourself, including automatic Genius Level 3 status and Booking.com wallet credit.
