As the Data Architect for the Trips Business Unit (TBU), you will work with teams and stakeholders to create the data architecture strategy for TBU. Responsibilities include setting best practices, supporting decision-making, and ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, compliant, and future-proof. You will align TBU with broader technical strategy and enterprise architecture.

Technical depth is important, but so is the ability to advise non-technical stakeholders. You will partner with cross-functional colleagues to understand future directions and craft an architecture vision. You will also advise leadership on key topics to facilitate informed decisions on technology investments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the Trips Data Architecture Strategy, collaborating with architects, data engineers, and leaders to define the target data architecture.
  • Represent “Trips Data” across the organization, participating in enterprise architecture, tech standards, and data leadership, and embedding principles into data teams.
  • Provide leadership and limited management to data modellers and data engineers, ensuring data assets are fit for purpose, balancing hands-on work and oversight.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, drive decision records, and incorporate non-functional requirements to improve architecture in line with strategy.
  • Work with data governance to identify risks and implement controls systematically without hampering velocity.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong background in data modeling and engineering, comfortable working with transactional, analytical, and data science data.
  • Experience collaborating with data science and machine learning teams, understanding workflows, and ensuring data quality and granularity.
  • Experience with modern data architectures and big data in cloud environments.
  • Experience working in agile teams, influencing both short-term delivery and long-term strategy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and senior stakeholders.
  • Mentoring skills for data engineers and data modellers.
Benefits & Perks
  • Paid time off, including parental, bereavement, and care leave.
  • Hybrid and flexible working, with up to 20 days/year remote work from abroad.
  • Product discounts, including up to 1400 per year, and Booking.com wallet credit.

We value diversity, with employees from over 140 nationalities. Our culture promotes inclusion, ensuring all colleagues have the tools and adjustments needed to participate fully.

This role does not include relocation assistance. Booking.com is an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating an inclusive environment for all applicants regardless of race, gender, disability, or background.
