About Us: At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We're the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.
Role Description: Booking.com is executing a long-term strategy centered on The Connected Trip. Our goal is to enable a seamless travel experience where customers can purchase multiple products - such as accommodations, flights, rental cars, and attractions - within a single transaction and checkout process. To deliver this seamless travel experience, we are building the Order Platform. As a Technical Product Manager of the Order Platform, you will build the modern infrastructure that orchestrates the complexity of these multi-product transactions at a global scale. The Order Platform team treats every vertical product team as our primary customers, succeeding when they can seamlessly access the workflows and data needed to drive the business.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Lifecycle Strategy: Own the vision and roadmap for the end-to-end booking lifecycle (creation, modification to cancellation) across all product verticals.
- Multi-Product Orchestration: Define the technical logic for the Connected Trip, ensuring cross-product triggers and updates remain seamless within a single traveler itinerary.
- Self-Service Enablement: Drive the delivery of technical guides and automated tools that empower product vertical teams to integrate and manage their products independently.
- Global Scalability: Partner with Engineering to scale order platform capabilities for massive traffic volumes, ensuring high performance and reliability during critical database migrations.
- Strategic Technical Bridge: Partner with Finance, Compliance, and other business units to translate complex requirements into scalable platform features.
- Data-Driven Insights: Capture and provide the platform data needed to influence stakeholders on which traveler offerings drive the most conversion, ensuring we scale for new capabilities while maintaining system health.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
- Relevant Experience: 4+ years of experience in Technical Product Management, specifically within high-scale backend ecosystems, platform tracks, or 'System of Record' environments.
- Architectural Stewardship: You have a deep understanding of how complex software services interact at scale. You ensure that the integrity of our order data is never compromised by the speed of business expansion.
- Internal Customer Focus: You view other engineering teams as your primary customers. You are passionate about making technical processes and integrations simple, well-documented, and self-service.
- Clear Communication: You can explain complex architectural constraints to business leaders and translate multi-vertical business goals (like the Connected Trip) into clear technical requirements for engineers.
- API & Service Connectivity: Comfortable working with RESTful services and messaging systems to ensure booking data remains synchronized, consistent, and easily accessible across the entire Booking.com ecosystem.
