The predicted salary is between 30000 - 32000 £ per year.

To lead, motivate and manage a team of approximately 35 warehouse operatives across the AM shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate picking and dispatch of goods in a fast‑paced distribution environment. The role is critical in driving performance, maintaining high operational standards, and supporting continuous improvement. You will ensure that the receiving, storing, picking and dispatch of goods is done correctly, achieving agreed productivity levels and staying within budgetary constraints. The working hours for this role are 10pm – 6am with flexibility to cover other shifts on occasions when the business needs. The days will be 5 days from Sunday to Thursday or Monday to Friday.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage warehouse teams, ensuring clear communication and consistent standards.
  • Drive operational performance to meet productivity, accuracy, and service‑level targets.
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet daily workload and peak demand.
  • Monitor KPIs (pick rates, accuracy, attendance) and take corrective action where required.
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.
  • Coach, develop and support champions and operatives to improve capability and engagement.
  • Manage performance, conduct reviews, and address any conduct or capability issues in line with HR policies.
  • Ensure efficient workflow in a high‑volume, fast‑moving warehouse environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments (Transport, senior managers, health & safety and HR).

You will need:

  • Working knowledge of the warehouse function within the FMCG distribution industry and the business and operational aspects of supervising a depot warehouse operation.
  • General knowledge of the transport function would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and train colleagues.
  • Computer skills – you will be using the MS Office suite on a daily basis.
  • Results‑driven with a strong focus on operational excellence.
  • Confident decision‑maker with a proactive approach.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail.
  • Team‑focused with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Able to thrive under pressure in a fast‑moving environment.
