We are recruiting for a Transport Coordinator to assist the Transport Manager with the day‑to‑day running of the operation and ensure all legal, cost and budgetary requirements are met, such as tachograph infringements, routes, drivers’ hours, payroll and compliance. The role also involves briefing and de‑briefing the Driver team. Working hours are 40 per week over five days, which may include Saturdays and public holidays.
Responsibilities
- Route allocation and adjustment as necessary.
- Ensure routes leave the depot on time and follow up on late or no‑show vehicles.
- Adhere to all legal, company and statutory requirements for transport, maintaining records for driver’s hours, licences, tachograph, vehicle/MHE inspection, maintenance, H&S, vehicle defects and risk assessments.
- Manage drivers’ hours in line with Working Time Directive rules.
- Sign off tachograph infringements.
- Complete the Driver Activity Log (DAL).
- Manage driver rosters, payroll (agent and regular), and holiday bookings.
- Handle absence management and complete relevant paperwork.
- Liaise with agencies to cover driver or driver‑assistant shortfalls.
- Complete investigations and disciplinaries following agreed procedures.
- Check Driver PDA compliance after route completion.
- Maintain on‑route compliance and liaise with drivers for non‑compliance issues.
- Investigate all PDA non‑conformance issues and forward to the Transport Manager.
- Report performance against Microlise standards.
- Resolve failed delivery issues and coordinate with couriers for deliveries or collections.
- Work with the CAD team for store credits.
- Ensure incident/accident paperwork is completed correctly for the Transport Manager.
- Participate in depot audits.
- Act as the site key‑holder on weekends and cover the Transport Manager’s absence.
- Maintain staff training folders and administration.
- Complete driver de‑briefs.
- Ensure daily and weekly stock counts and return logs are accurate.
- Conduct daily briefs with colleagues.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for queries.
Qualifications
- Understanding of the transport environment and LGV vehicles.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Strong organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
- Previous experience in a fast‑moving logistics environment.
- Class 2 LGV Licence (desirable).
- Experience with SAP, PO raising and invoicing.
- Knowledge of the Microlise system (advantageous).
