About the role

We are recruiting to join our Transport Team at ourBooker Retail Partnersite. As a Transport Team Manager, you will support the site management team in the efficient, safe, legal and cost‑effective management of the Transport operations. The objective of the role is to ensure that our large, fast‑moving Transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently, by achieving optimum service levels across all contracts while working to specific KPIs. The role requires working weekends on rotating rotas 5 days from 7 from 6am‑10pm.

Responsibilities

Reporting into the Transport Operations manager, you will work to achieve operational KPIs and service agreements to tight deadlines and drive improvements by engaging the Transport team in promoting a positive culture. You will manage vehicle breakdowns whilst ensuring that the impact to the retailer is kept to a minimum. You will also analyse Tacho‑graph infringement reports, discuss infringements with drivers and liaise with Warehouse Operations to ensure timely loading and departure of loads. You will maintain legal compliance with all transport legislation, particularly driver’s hours, and manage fleet maintenance, servicing, MOTs and defect management so that vehicles are available when required.

  • High levels of initiative, focus, commitment and flexibility
  • Experience applying relevant legislation such as Health & Safety, Employment Law, Discrimination, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Transport Legislation and impact of non‑compliance on the company and Operator Licence
  • Knowledge of multi‑temperature warehouse and transport procedures and compliance
  • Ability to plan labour and resources to deliver operational requirements in a timely manner while meeting agreed KPIs and Service Levels
  • Effective team worker and confident, positive communicator
  • PC literate in Excel and Word and WMS experience
  • CPC qualification
