Do you enjoy analysing data and behaviour? As an Insight Analyst you will undertake a variety of in-depth analytical activities, focusing on data, to support the Range and Trading teams in understanding customer requirements and helping our business leaders make informed decisions. The role is a permanent position and is based out of our Eccles office in Manchester with hybrid working. We will be flexible for you to work at our Watford or Wellingborough office as an alternative.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular and ad‑hoc data modelling, analysis and data maintenance to support performance reporting, product range evaluation, margin analysis, market analysis, competitor pricing and market research.
- Work on projects in competitor and market analysis, customer and supplier satisfaction, product and fixture space performance, sustainability and third‑party insight solutions.
- Interpret and leverage data to improve and influence strategic decision‑making and the value proposition.
- Evaluate, simplify and evolve existing processes to drive efficiency.
- Mitigate risk by identifying and integrating suitable data validation steps into current and new processes.
- Comply with company policies such as Health & safety, GDPR, GSCOP.
- Work pro‑actively with colleagues and suppliers to provide exceptional service, support, and consultation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a data analytics role.
- Experience with relational databases (query writing, database design and object manipulation) and business intelligence packages (SQL Server, Business Objects, Tableau) – essential.
- Advanced MS Excel skills (data manipulation and transformation, advanced formulas, constructing analytical models).
- Experience constructing and developing forecasting models or being a part‑qualified accountant.
- Analytically minded, with a passion for organising and analysing data.
- Ability to maintain well‑structured, accurate information.
- Excellent problem‑solving and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues and suppliers.
- Good commercial awareness and logic.
- Eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve objectives.
- Hard‑working, reliable and results‑driven.
