We’re recruiting a Procurement Manager to join Booker on a fixed-term contract for up to 6 months within our Goods and Services Not For Resale (GSNFR) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a brand-new team and help shape how procurement operates from the ground up. You’ll play a key role in driving value, influencing strategy, and embedding best-in-class procurement across the business. Reporting to the Head of Procurement – GSNFR, you’ll lead on delivering cost savings, strong procurement strategies, and ensuring all activity is compliant and fit for purpose, while improving supplier performance and supporting Booker’s transformation journey. We’re looking for someone who can start immediately, with the potential for the role to become permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver category strategies across assigned GSNFR areas, aligned to Booker and Tesco transformation priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across the UK and internationally.
  • Lead annual and in‑year negotiations to secure competitive commercial terms and deliver year‑on‑year savings.
  • Identify, scope, and implement cost‑reduction initiatives and value‑driven projects.
  • Support the rollout of new ways of working across Booker/Tesco GSNFR, ensuring consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage supplier performance through structured reviews, acting as the escalation point for contract or service issues.
  • Review existing and potential suppliers to ensure they meet Booker/Tesco sustainability, risk, and service standards.
  • Develop procurement plans for your categories, ensuring clear priorities, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Champion innovation, automation, and service improvements to enhance efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development of team capability and support the delivery of the wider GSNFR cost‑reduction plan.

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and contract management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and delivering procurement strategies and category plans.
  • Skilled at identifying service improvements, driving automation, and embedding new processes.
  • Confident leading supplier reviews and managing complex contract issues.
  • Ability to assess supplier suitability, manage risk, and optimise service delivery.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with fast‑paced operational demands.
