About the role:
As Shift Leader, you will work with the Branch Leadership Team and colleagues to support the Area Manager. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the branch is Health, Safe and Legal at all times while maximising efficiency, availability and delivering great service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Opening, closing and the complete operational running of the branch, making right decisions for health and safety of customers and colleagues, and taking the lead in the absence of the Area Manager.
- Supporting a Health, Safe and Legal culture; keeping all colleagues informed of any H&S and security updates.
- Ensuring all colleagues maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment.
- Compliance with company policies and procedures and mandatory training.
- Leading by example, role‑modeling the Code of Business Conduct and Win Together behaviours.
- Live PRIDE within the branch so all colleagues focus on delivering great availability and service.
- Supporting colleagues during their induction and training.
- Building and maintaining good working relationships internally and externally.
- Championing diversity and inclusion, ensuring everyone is welcome at Booker.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills and experience of supervising or managing a team.
- A proven track record of coaching, motivating and guiding a team, and holding people accountable to deliver great service.
- Flexible and adaptable with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Practical experience in the retail or wholesale trade.
