As the Maintenance and Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, upkeep, and operational functionality of facilities across nine distribution centres. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all sites are safe, compliant, and efficient, thereby supporting the seamless execution of logistics operations. You will be accountable for delivering high-quality maintenance services and upholding site standards across all Booker Distribution Centres. This includes close collaboration with both site and central leadership teams to ensure financial and operational targets are met. Additionally, you will manage the distribution capital budget and lead associated projects, ensuring effective planning and execution. You will implement Group best practices and maintain a safe, legally compliant, and fully functional estate for colleagues and visitors. You will also work with the wider Group to enhance operational excellence.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting maintenance operations across a variety of complex models, ensuring that our facilities are robust and resilient, enabling us to provide a consistently high service level to customers.
- Supporting safety initiatives and campaigns to ensure a safe, compliant, and functional environment for both colleagues and visitors.
- Managing and overseeing the distribution facilities budget, including identifying CAPEX priorities and projects as part of long-term planning.
- Project managing large capital projects from inception, design, planning consent, procurement, construction, delivery, through to practical completion.
- Designing smaller, cost-effective solutions that meet the operational requirements of the business and support improvements in efficiency.
- Inspiring and supporting a diverse team of technicians and external contractors.
- Driving performance through regular one-to-ones, coaching, and development conversations, while also taking ownership of your own and your team’s growth.
- Collaborating with external partners to develop and execute maintenance strategies and solutions.
- Achieving and exceeding company KPIs, identifying and acting on areas for improvement.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear and effective communication.
- Supporting sustainability initiatives across the function in line with the company’s Planet agenda.
- Supporting and enhancing business continuity and resilience plans to safeguard operations.
