About the role
The Booker Group has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Software Developer to join our IT Development Team based in Basingstoke. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing POS systems that meet the continuing needs of the Booker Cash & Carry business.
The IT Development Team which consists of 4 developers, two of which are responsible for developing and maintaining an in-house POS software solution across the Booker and Makro estate. This team works closely with the Booker IT Project Team to ensure that all Branch systems are effective, secure, and efficient.
You will be responsible for
Together your team and you will need to be disciplined, innovative and business-focused in your approach to develop a wide variety of high-quality products and solutions. The successful candidate will be eager to learn new technologies, technically proficient and motivated in the creation and delivery of IT Solutions which include JAVA and SQL.
Additionally, you will partner continuously with your many stakeholders daily to stay focused on common goals.
You will need
- Good understanding of JAVA and SQL.
- Knowledge of Retail is advantageous but not critical.
- Background in software development, testing, change management, or support provision.
- Consistent delivery of results.
- Ability to work individually and as a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, being able to communicate effectively and efficiently with colleagues, customers and suppliers combined with a “can-do” attitude.
