About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Distribution Centre in Haydock as a Class 1 driver. This NEW opportunity will involve single deliveries to our cash and carry sites, and multi drop deliveries to our Retail Partners. Using both Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles.
- Up to 48Hrs over 4/5 Days (any 4/5 from 7 Days).
- Start times between 9am and 1pm, to be agreed at Interview Stage.
- Weekend working will form part of shift pattern (Weekend Premium applied).
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering palletised and caged goods to branches and/or depots within the Booker network, and to our retail partner customers.
- Tipping and loading vehicles as necessary, including manual handling.
- Collection of backloads from 3rd party suppliers.
- Normal daily delivery workload is 1 / 2 runs, mostly single drop with occasional 2nd drop when delivering to our cash and carry sites.
- Multi drop deliveries when delivering to our retail partners.
- Drive & operate Class 2 vehicles when required.
- Effective verbal and written communication with site and external customers.
- Knowledge of Drivers Hours and WTD, ensuring legality at all times.
- Keeping our fleet clean & tidy, damage free and reporting of all vehicle defects.
You will need:
- You must hold a valid C+E Licence with experience preferred.
- All applicants must be CPC qualified to be considered for this role.
- Applicants will not be considered if they have more than 6 points on their licence, 'Careless Driving', prosecution for mobile phone use or drink driving or have failed to comply with 'Construction of Use'.
- Experience of digital tachograph.
- Geographical knowledge.
- Operation of Tail Lifts (Desired but training can be given).
- Operation of refrigerated units (Desired but training can be given).
