About the role

Booker Group is seeking a Head of Business Planning. In this role, you will be responsible for driving planning improvements across the business and shaping the future business strategy. You will oversee the development and governance of the in-year Business Plan, ensuring its alignment with organisational goals and delivering operational success.

Main Responsibilities

Planning Improvements:

  • Identify and implement planning improvements across processes, timelines, communication, data, and systems.
  • Design key planning changes, such as governance resets, new reporting systems, and oversight of trials.
  • Lead the implementation of planning changes and ensure smooth transition into in-year delivery, ensuring ongoing maintenance and execution.

Strategic Plan:

  • Develop a strategic planning approach that aligns teams across the business with clear focus and direction.
  • Implement the strategic planning framework, assess the current strategy, and build out a comprehensive 3-year Strategic Plan.

Communications:

  • Engage the planning community to enhance visibility and foster collaboration within the Booker Business Planning team.

Building the Plan:

  • Develop the Booker Business Plan, ensuring alignment with the budget.
  • Define and cascade the Business Plan throughout the organisation, ensuring priority briefs, clear communication, and alignment with Business Leaders’ objectives.
  • Assess organisational capacity to deliver the plan upfront and continuously monitor throughout the year.

Governing the Plan:

  • Maintain and update the Business Plan throughout the year, ensuring clear communication with key teams.
  • Report on the Business Plan progress (e.g., scorecards, Plan Lay-downs, CEO updates).
  • Lead weekly governance forums to ensure the Business Plan is on track.

Establishing Communications:

  • Build and embed a strong Planning Community across the business, fostering ongoing engagement and alignment.

  • Strong technical expertise and proficiency in business analytics

Relevant Experience:

  • Background in Change Delivery initiatives
  • Over 3 years of expertise in Project and/or Programme Management
  • Proven track record of delivering successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance team capability and performance
  • Expertise in building credible, collaborative relationships across functions and teams, both internally and externally
