We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Distribution Centre in Haydock as a Class 1 driver. This NEW opportunity involves:
- Single deliveries to our cash and carry sites, and multi-drop deliveries to our Retail Partners.
- 45 hours over 5 days (any 5 from 7 days).
- Part-time hours available if preferred.
- Flexible start times, to be agreed at interview stage.
- Weekend working will form part of the shift pattern, with weekend premium applied.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering palletised and caged goods to branches and/or depots within the Booker network, and to our retail partner customers.
- Tipping and loading vehicles as necessary, including manual handling.
- Collection of backloads from third-party suppliers.
- Normal daily workload is 1-2 runs, mostly single drop with occasional second drops when delivering to cash and carry sites.
Requirements:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with site and external customers.
- Knowledge of Drivers Hours and WTD, ensuring legality at all times.
- Maintaining our fleet\βs cleanliness, damage-free condition, and reporting vehicle defects.
- Valid C+E Licence with preferred experience.
- All applicants must be CPC qualified.
- No more than 6 points on the licence, and no recent offences for careless driving, mobile phone use, or drink driving.
- Experience with digital tachograph.
- Geographical knowledge.
- Operation of tail lifts and refrigerated units is desirable but training can be provided.
