Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage a team of approximately 35 warehouse operatives across the am shift, ensuring safe, efficient and accurate picking and dispatch of goods in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Ensure receiving, storing, picking and dispatch of goods are performed to agreed productivity levels and within budgetary constraints.
- Plan and allocate resources to meet daily workload and peak demand; monitor KPIs (e.g., pick rates, accuracy, attendance) and take corrective action where required.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- Coach, develop and support operatives to improve capability and engagement; manage performance, conduct reviews, and address any conduct or capability issues in line with HR policies.
- Ensure efficient workflow in a high-volume, fast-moving warehouse environment; support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Work collaboratively with other departments (Transport, senior managers, health & Safety, HR).
Working hours: 10pm – 6am with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed; 5 days from 7 (Sun-Thursday) or Monday – Friday.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the Warehouse function within the FMCG distribution industry; understanding of supervising a depot warehouse operation.
- General knowledge of the Transport function is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to manage and train colleagues; computer skills (MS Office) and daily use of Office tools.
- Results-driven with a strong focus on operational excellence; confident decision-maker; highly organized with attention to detail; team-focused with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Able to thrive under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
