Multilingual Matters/Channel View Publications Ltd is a leading independent academic publishing business focused on research in applied linguistics and tourism studies.

We are looking for a commissioning editor to look after six established book series in areas of applied linguistics for 12-14 months during the maternity leave of the current commissioning editor. The right candidate will have some editorial experience, including list building and managing established book series, as well as working dynamically with series editors on new and emerging series. The role reports directly to the Editorial Director and could be an opportunity for an experienced Editorial Assistant looking to take the next step.

The commissioning editor role would be 20 hours per week, with some flexibility as to how those hours might be arranged. We would be willing to consider a candidate with experience (or willingness to learn!) of working across various departments for a full-time position to cover other aspects of the current editor's role.

The company is based in Bristol, but a successful candidate could work at home while being available to attend meetings in Bristol from time to time, COVID allowing.

Salary range: £28k-£34k pro-rata. Please send your CV and a cover letter by email to Anna Roderick. Closing date for applications: 14 June 2021.
