Forage Literary is seeking an assistant scout to join the team. We are a growing and dynamic literary scouting agency, focusing on sourcing books, podcasts and articles for film and television adaptation.

This is a full-time position and is not currently office-based. The nature of the role will require a frequent presence in London as it will involve building an information network of editors and agents across the publishing and film/TV industries by attending meetings, book launches, parties, and book fairs. It will also involve reading manuscripts and writing reports, as well as assisting the office coordinator with all back-end tasks including database entry, checking rights, tracking books, and research.

The candidate will ideally have some previous experience of working in publishing. They will have their finger on the pulse of publishing trends, wide-ranging reading tastes, and a demonstrable passion for film and television. They should be a quick and decisive reader with strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to write reports under time pressure. A second language is preferred, but not essential.
