A role working across editorial and design. Faber is a leading independent literary publisher. We publish a diverse range of high-profile authors such as Emma Carroll, Lauren St John, Jason Reynolds, Swapna Haddow and Kacen Callender, and we have a backlist containing the works of T. S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Sylvia Plath and William Golding, among many others. The Faber Children’s list spans picture books to YA crossover, through gift, graphic novels and non-fiction. We give teachers and educators the books they need to nurture, support and inspire children to become the great minds of the future.

We are looking for an assistant to support the Children’s Creative Team. Working across editorial and design, the successful candidate will have a meticulous approach to work, with a keen eye for detail. They will need excellent IT and design skills with an advanced knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. This is a fantastic introduction to the day to day running of a children’s editorial and design department.

Tasks will include:

  • copy writing
  • proof checking
  • admin support
  • reading submissions
  • running diaries
  • organising meetings
  • taking minutes
  • helping run events
  • accompanying authors and illustrators to events
  • commissioning contracts
  • processing invoices
  • image research and permission clearance
  • reformatting covers

This is a full time permanent role based in our London office. Salary: £27,700 per annum.
