An exciting role for an enthusiastic team player at a resurgent independent publisher

Duckworth is a leading independent publisher, founded in 1898 and since revitalised for the twenty-first century. Our Duckworth imprint publishes first-class, stimulating non-fiction, literary and historical fiction; while September imprint specializes in books to transform readers’ lives. And our Farrago imprint is the home of ‘fiction to make you smile’, publishing a wide range of humorous writing.

We’re looking for a Marketing Manager with expertise in digital marketing, who will be responsible for:

Individual title campaigns:

  • Planning and managing marketing campaigns and budgets for selected titles across the Duckworth and Farrago lists
  • Designing creative assets to support the above (familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign and Canva required)
  • Social media campaign activity (including Booktok)

Optimising digital marketing activity across the full publishing list, including:

  • Online advertising (Amazon; paid social)
  • Email marketing and building newsletter subscribers
  • Website marketing to optimise D2C sales

This role will suit a focused individual with a demonstrated interest in publishing who is eager to step up to the next level as part of a small, friendly team. At least 3-4 years of marketing experience is essential; a relish for handling data; social media proficiency; and design ability. You must also be able to show initiative and attention to detail, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time contract, with minimum 2 days per week at Duckworth’s offices in Richmond-on-Thames. We welcome requests for regular homeworking days or flexible hours by arrangement. We are committed to being an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds who have relevant experience.

Salary range: £34,000-£38,000 pro rata, depending on experience.

Please apply with a covering letter and CV, addressed to Matt Casbourne, Sales and Marketing Director, via email to careers@duckworthbooks.com by 5pm on 23 July.
