Berghahn Books is seeking an Assistant Marketing Manager to handle all marketing activities for our humanities titles, with a focus on our History list. We are looking for a creative marketer ready for their next step in publishing. Excellent communication skills and organisational abilities are required.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute marketing plans for new titles, including social media, digital and traditional advertising, publicity, catalogues, launches, enewsletters, etc.
- Develop relationships with librarians, academics, and other influencers to promote brand awareness and develop knowledge of the market.
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing teammates on cross-subject promotions and backlist campaigns.
- Work closely with Editorial on title positioning, messaging, and targets for new titles, conference planning, and sales review analysis.
- Helping in any other aspects of sales and marketing as needed.
As an independent press, this position will offer a great opportunity to learn many facets of the publishing process while putting you at the forefront of the latest marketing strategies in the scholarly publishing space.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years’ experience in publishing.
- An interest in scholarly publishing is valuable and a background in social sciences a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and a good command of English grammar and spelling as well as proficiency in Word processing are required.
- Knowledge of Excel, MailChimp as well as basic desktop publishing skills, such as familiarity with InDesign, a plus.
