General Summary

Bonnier Books UK is looking for a marketing manager / senior marketing manager to join the Children's Trade division, working across our fiction and non-fiction across a range of our children's imprints. In this role, you will lead on devising and executing stand‑out year‑round campaigns for some of our key authors, devising strategies to maximise both frontlist and backlist and expanding our digital audiences, building partnerships, and growing our brand.

We publish fun, engaging and family‑oriented books for readers age 0‑16+ that capture the imaginations of children and young adults everywhere. We’re proud of our wide‑ranging and award‑winning list, from much‑loved stories and authors like Andy Shepherd, Nathaneal Lessore and Holly Black, to launching new and upcoming voices as well as a hugely diverse range of licence publishing including Disney and brands such as Ultimate Football Heroes.

You’ll have a passion for storytelling, demonstrable experience in marketing directly to both children and parents, and a track record for bringing creative marketing campaigns to life. You’ll be highly commercial, action‑oriented, consumer‑focused, and adept at using data to inform decisions and deliver results. A social media native (ideally with some experience of TikTok), you’ll be bursting with energy, enthusiasm and ideas. This is a rare opportunity to work on a truly extraordinary list. You’ll be directly responsible for connecting some of the most exciting books in children’s publishing to readers, whilst working alongside a dynamic, collaborative, highly skilled team who love what they do. If this sounds like a challenge you’d love, we’d love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute clear and effective marketing campaigns to drive sales and revenue for the books across our range of imprints.
  • Effectively manage year‑round marketing budgets for key brand authors and frontlist titles, using insight and analysis to allocate investment.
  • Proactively manage high‑profile author and agent communications, coordinating with stakeholders internally and externally on marketing strategy and plans.
  • Own and build some of our social media platforms and direct‑to‑consumer channels, delivering clear KPIs and measures of success.
  • Secure third‑party and brand partnerships to reach new readers.
  • Set KPIs, monitor ROI, and provide ongoing analysis of marketing campaigns to inform our marketing and publishing decisions.
  • Actively contribute to strategic growth and planning discussions with your department head and team.
  • Alongside the team, manage online brand author communities, including newsletter, social media channels and website content.
  • Work closely with the publishing team, participating in acquisition, positioning, and packaging discussions to align publishing and marketing decisions with our books’ target audience.
  • Work closely with the sales team to identify promotional opportunities across the front and backlist.
  • Be the primary point of contact internally for authors and allocated campaigns, and participate in author‑facing discussions for select authors.
  • Manage and grow online communities.
  • Seek out new opportunities for audience engagement and growth.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Solid track record of delivering best‑in‑class consumer marketing campaigns to drive sales and revenue.
  • Expertise in performance and digital marketing across all key online channels.
  • Highly experienced in growing and engaging audiences across social platforms including Instagram and TikTok.
  • Able to work autonomously and prioritize effectively, meeting deadlines and targets while showing flexibility to meet the needs of the business and key stakeholders.
  • Experience managing campaign budgets, reporting on KPIs and measuring ROI.
  • Proven ability to use data to inform decisions and strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate a creative and imaginative approach to engaging consumers, with a proven ability to execute campaigns to the highest standards.
  • First‑class content creation skills, including design, copywriting and video creation.
  • Understanding how to analyse audience data and apply learnings.
  • Up‑to‑date with market trends, including paid media.
  • Confident mentor offering support and sharing expertise with the team.
