General Summary
An exciting opportunity for an organised and enthusiastic individual to join a small, busy and award-winning International Sales team. As an international sales assistant, you will be providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the sales team and coordinating marketing activity. This is an entry level position which would suit someone looking for their first role in publishing. The International team works across the group, and the role would cover both Bonnier Book UK’s children and adult publishing. This spans a huge range of titles and offers opportunity to learn across every category at a major trade publisher. Proven organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively will be key. Training will be provided for internal systems used: Biblio, Vista and Power BI. Confidence in using social media would be a plus as we are looking for someone to run the team’s Instagram account. This role will work closely with the team and liaise across the company to ensure the International team and key partners are up-to-date with bibliographic and cover detail. This role will be fundamental in helping the international sales team reach their annual budget.
Key responsibilities
- Liaising directly with customers, particularly major customers in US, Canada, Australia, India and South Africa
- Maintaining flow of information with our distributors in the US, including updating portals with marketing and sales material and pulling together sell-sheets.
- Supporting international sales manager for Europe and US, including catalogue submissions, pulling together catalogue info and liaising with Marketing on catalogue advertisements
- Processing orders and other administrative work, such as managing invoicing, maintaining customer databases, co-ordinating direct deliveries and drop-shipments, arranging samples, processing returns and working with the wider team
- Creating and maintaining sales material such as order forms and PowerPoint presentations
- Build and run sales reports and stocklists for the team and for customers
- Organising samples and proofs to be sent out to international customers
- Collating marketing materials and sharing with customers as needed
- Providing support and organisation at external events like bookfairs, where required
- Liaising with all other departments, including Editorial, Publicity, Marketing, Production, and Design
- Managing commission reports and invoices for external reps
- Maintaining awareness of deadlines and using initiative to keep to them
Qualifications and Experience
- MS Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness
- Attention to detail
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills – in writing and in person
