Reporting to: Managing Director, Children’s Trade

Location: 5th Floor, HYLO, 105 Bunhill Row, London, EC1Y 8LZ

Working pattern: Hybrid - minimum of two days per week in the office; up to three days per week working from home

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience

Duration: Twelve-month fixed-term contract

General Summary

Bonnier Books UK has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Marketing to lead its children’s and YA marketing team on a fixed-term contract to cover a period of parental leave from March 2026. In this role, you will be directly responsible for devising and managing campaigns across the team, ensuring that strategy, planning, and execution are consistently of a high standard. You will own and report on the marketing budget and manage a fantastic team of hard-working, creative, and commercially savvy individuals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for stories and storytelling – whether through books, TV, film, or advertising. They will be a self-starter who consistently delivers at a high level and demonstrates strong leadership and management skills. They will be strategic, highly commercial, action-oriented, and consumer-focused, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the marketing P&L for the division
  • Line management of the marketing team (4 line reports)
  • Overall management of the marketing budget
  • Act as the main point of contact for Editorial and Sales
  • Devise and manage campaigns across the team/imprint or category – including strategy, planning, and execution – to a consistently high level
  • Collaborate with imprint heads and input into publishing/category strategy to drive growth and innovation

Qualifications and Experience

  • More than five years’ experience of delivering effective marketing campaigns for children’s books or to family audiences
  • A self-starter who operates with a high degree of autonomy
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team, inspiring individuals
  • A confident senior voice who is immersed and experienced in the children’s books market
  • High degree of ownership – setting KPIs and delivering on targets, actively looking for opportunities to drive ROI and improve processes, and consistently measuring performance
  • Continuously identifies opportunities for growth and leads strategy for their imprint/category
  • Fully accountable for managing division marketing budgets and allocations, and delivering against targets for their imprint/category
  • Impeccable communication skills, with the ability to work with senior stakeholders across the business
