About the Role
The FP&A Manager plays a key role in supporting financial performance management across the organisation. This role is responsible for leading core budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes, providing high‑quality analysis to senior stakeholders, and supporting decision‑making through financial insight. The FP&A Manager is both hands‑on with data and an effective business partner, helping drive accountability and operational excellence.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for assigned business units or group functions.
- Consolidate inputs, assess assumptions, and ensure alignment with financial targets.
- Perform scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and modelling of business drivers.
- Management Reporting & Insights
- Assist in producing monthly management reporting packs, including P&L, KPIs, variance analysis, and commentary.
- Provide clear insights that highlight performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support materials for Executive Team and Board reporting as required.
- Produce monthly board papers to a high quality and level of accuracy.
- Business Partnering
- Act as a finance partner to functional leaders or divisional heads.
- Support decision-making through financial analysis on initiatives such as business cases, headcount planning and cost optimisation.
- Build strong relationships and help drive financial discipline across the organisation.
- Financial Modelling & Analysis
- Maintain and enhance financial models used for budgeting, forecasting, and evaluating business cases.
- Conduct profitability, margin, cost, and ROI analysis.
- Support ad‑hoc strategic finance projects or scenario analysis.
- Process & Systems Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline FP&A processes, improve accuracy, and shorten reporting timelines.
- Support the improvement of reporting tools, dashboards, and planning systems.
- Enhance data quality, standardisation, and automation across FP&A outputs.
- Team Support / Leadership (depending on structure)
- Provide guidance to analysts or junior team members where applicable.
- Review outputs and ensure accuracy of reporting and analysis.
Key Skills and Experience
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with a minimum of 8 years’ experience, including at least 2 years in an FP&A role.
- Strong financial modelling and Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical ability with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
- Experience working with financial systems and BI/reporting tools.
Preferred
- Experience in a medium organisation, or a fast‑paced environment.
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or modelling software.
- Prior experience supporting budgets or business partnering.
Personal Attributes
- Commercially minded, curious, and proactive.
- Strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines.
- Collaborative and comfortable interacting with stakeholders at different levels.
