We are a leading UK advisory firm specialising in R&D tax relief, with a strong reputation for technical quality, defensible claims and long‑term client relationships. As the market continues to evolve following recent reforms, we are seeking a senior commercial leader to drive the next phase of growth for our R&D practice, with a particular focus on larger and more complex claimants, including businesses historically within the RDEC population. This is a high‑impact leadership role with ownership across revenue generation, market strategy, internal sales leadership and the development of a proactive compliance‑led growth proposition. This appointment is central to our strategic move upmarket into enterprise and upper mid‑market clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Personally originating and closing high‑value R&D tax mandates
- Defining and executing the short‑ to medium‑term commercial strategy for the R&D practice
- Building scalable go‑to‑market plans for enterprise and upper mid‑market segments
- Increasing average deal size and revenue quality
- Developing strong relationships at CFO, Finance Director and Group Tax level
- Building pipeline discipline and commercial governance across the sales function
- Driving internal thought leadership and raising capability across sales teams
- Acting as the senior commercial voice for enterprise R&D market strategy
Compliance Growth Agenda
- Building a proactive compliance and governance proposition
- Generating opportunities linked to HMRC scrutiny, enquiries and risk reviews
- Leveraging partner networks across audit, tax, legal and professional services
- Driving referral‑led compliance and remediation workstreams
- Transforming compliance revenue from reactive demand into a scalable growth channel
Internal Leadership
- Coaching and developing commercial teams
- Strengthening enterprise sales capability
- Improving qualification, pipeline management and deal discipline
- Leading sales thought leadership and market positioning
- Supporting sector messaging and commercial playbook development
What We’re Looking For
- 8 to 15+ years’ experience in UK R&D tax consultancy
- Proven track record of winning six‑figure and above mandates
- Experience with larger corporate and historic RDEC claimants
- Strategic leadership experience within a specialist advisory environment
- Experience in compliance, governance or enquiry‑related workstreams
- Established professional referral and partner networks
