We’re looking for an ambitious Development Scientist to join our client’s team and help shape the next generation of protein science. Joining a fast growing well-funded proteomics start up with a genuinely one-of-a-kind technology, the Development Scientist role is focused on assay development, troubleshooting and optimisation.

What you’ll do as a Development Scientist:
- Design and execute experiments to develop and optimise biological and enzymatic assays, with a focus on robustness, scalability, and transferability.
- Apply protein characterisation techniques – such as HPLC/FPLC, mass spectrometry, or related analytical methods – to inform and accelerate product development.
- Troubleshoot and systematically improve performance, yield, robustness, and reproducibility.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth integration of workflows into the wider platform.
- Maintain high standards of documentation in line with quality management systems.
What we’re looking for:
- An advanced degree (MRes / PhD) in biochemistry or a related discipline, plus some industry experience ideally.
- Experience with chromatographic techniques (e.g. HPLC/FPLC) for protein purification or characterisation.
- Hands-on laboratory experience developing or optimising biological or enzymatic assays or workflows.
- Strong experimental design skills, with the ability to generate clear, well-controlled data and draw sound conclusions.
