One of Oxford’s best employers is currently looking to hire a Facilities and Maintenance Technician to join a growing team focused on first class delivery of maintenance services across a multi-site business. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with some maintenance experience to join a highly successful company and learn lots of new skills. It will be a temporary role for 6 months to begin and will convert to permanent for the right person in 2027.
Responsibilities
- Carry out basic building repairs and general maintenance.
- Support routine inspections and testing, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other safety equipment.
- Help complete logbooks, forms, and electronic records.
- Assist with the induction and supervision of external contractors.
- Respond to general helpdesk requests such as meeting room setups or moving furniture.
- Assist with small projects, including office/lab moves and refurbishments.
Qualifications and attributes
The ideal candidate for the Facilities and Maintenance Technician will possess a positive attitude, good communication skills and a genuine interest in undertaking hands-on maintenance work and learning on-the-job.
Hours, travel and location
Core hours of work are 8am-5pm Monday to Friday and there will be regular out-of-hours overtime, including weekends, which is paid at an enhanced rate. The primary place of work will be Oxford (OX4) and will require regular travel to other sites in Abingdon and Didcot so having your own transport is highly advantageous (claim back mileage).
