Our client is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for a pivotal, hands-on role at the heart of their pilot manufacturing operation, taking full ownership of equipment reliability, facility readiness, and the systems that underpin safe, controlled production. This isn’t a role where the systems are already in place - it’s a role where you’ll build them. You’ll have genuine ownership, direct operational impact, and the opportunity to lay the foundations for a manufacturing capability that will scale. Initially, you’ll work directly on the production line - giving you firsthand insight into how equipment and facility conditions interact with real operational demands.
As the operation matures, you’ll transition into a leadership role across maintenance strategy, calibration programmes, and cross-functional equipment support - building robust, scalable systems alongside our Process Engineering and Operations teams.
Key responsibilities:- Equipment ownership: Drive performance, availability, and uptime for all manufacturing equipment.
- Calibration programmes: Establish and manage calibration schedules and status visibility across relevant equipment.
- Preventive maintenance: Define and implement maintenance strategies; lead rapid response to breakdowns.
- Facility readiness: Support site layout, infrastructure, and EHS compliance in partnership with external consultants.
- Spare parts management: Maintain critical spare parts inventory to minimise production disruption.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Process Engineering and Operations to resolve equipment-related challenges.
- Proven experience with manufacturing equipment in a technical environment.
- Strong grounding in maintenance, calibration, and equipment reliability principles.
- A practical, hands-on approach to diagnosing and solving problems.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in structured or regulated settings.
- Background in regulated industries such as medical devices, biotech, or pharmaceuticals.
- Experience building maintenance or calibration systems from scratch.
- Exposure to pilot or early-stage manufacturing environments.
- Track record of managing external contractors or service providers.
- Familiarity with health and safety requirements in technical settings.
