Are you an experienced Buyer or Procurement Specialist with a background in engineering or agriculture? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? We are recruiting for a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to join a busy procurement team supporting factory, office, and site operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys negotiating, building supplier relationships, and ensuring materials and equipment are available when and where they're needed.
As Buyer, you will play a key role in sourcing goods, materials, plant, and services to support engineering and agricultural operations. You'll work closely with internal teams to ensure procurement processes run smoothly, cost-effectively, and in line with operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Source, evaluate, and appoint suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve best value and commercial advantage.
- Manage procurement of engineering components, agricultural supplies, plant, and tool hire.
- Coordinate plant and equipment hire, ensuring timely delivery and efficient off-hire management.
- Monitor stock levels and usage trends, placing orders to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Collaborate with operations, logistics, and site teams to forecast demand and align purchasing plans.
- Track supplier performance and resolve any quality, delivery, or service issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders, hire agreements, and pricing schedules.
- Stay informed on market trends, supplier developments, and pricing fluctuations within engineering and agricultural sectors.
- Proven experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or in a similar purchasing role.
- Experience within engineering, agriculture, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain principles.
- Confident negotiator with a track record of securing favourable commercial terms.
- Familiarity with logistics, site operations, and plant/tool hire coordination.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems.
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience
