We're working with an established engineering and laboratory-based organisation seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Manager to lead the turnaround and transformation of a critical laboratory operation. This would be a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with full accountability for laboratory performance, people leadership, and operational excellence. The focus is on stabilising operations, optimising workflows, addressing operational constraints, and building a sustainable, high-performing team. You will be supported by a dedicated Lean Six Sigma professional, allowing you to focus on leadership, decision-making, and delivery.
Senior Laboratory Manager responsibilities include:
- Leading the laboratory as a business, with accountability for quality, delivery, cost, and people
- Reviewing and optimising end-to-end laboratory workflows
- Identifying and removing operational constraints to improve efficiency, throughput, and turnaround times
- Providing confident, visible leadership to teams through a period of change
- Developing a clear people and capability plan so staff can grow with the business
- Embedding performance metrics, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Collaborating with other European laboratory sites (some travel required)
Experience required:
- Proven experience as a Senior Laboratory Manager, Operations Manager, or Operational Transformation Lead
- Strong people leadership experience within a laboratory, engineering, or technical environment
- A track record of improving operational performance and leading change
- Commercially minded and comfortable being accountable for results
- Able to operate at pace in a complex, evolving environment
- Open to occasional European travel
