About the Role
Bond Recruit are currently recruiting for a Freelance Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a leading design & build contractor specialising in commercial interiors, workplace fit-out and refurbishment projects. Our client delivers high-quality CAT A / CAT B fit-outs, refurbishments and workplace environments, combining design, project management and construction to create modern, high-performing workspaces. Due to a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to bring in a Freelance QS to support ongoing site operations and commercial activities.
The Role
This is a site-based role in Southampton, working closely with the project and commercial team to support the delivery of interior fit-out and refurbishment works. You will play a key role in managing day-to-day commercial activities, supporting variations, procurement and cost reporting across live projects and additional works packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day pricing of variations, additional works and new packages outside of the agreed scope
- Supporting the commercial lead with variations, purchase orders and cost management
- Engaging with the supply chain to obtain and assess quotations for fit-out works
- Reviewing subcontractor pricing and ensuring value for money
- Assisting the site team with commercial input where required
- Reporting on project costs, variations and commercial performance
- Attending site meetings with clients, suppliers and internal teams
Team Structure
- Working under senior commercial leadership on site
- Collaborating closely with the Site Manager and delivery team
- Supporting wider project and development personnel
- Contributing to the broader pre-construction and commercial function
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial fit-out, interiors or refurbishment projects
- Strong knowledge of CAT A / CAT B fit-out, joinery, M&E coordination or workplace projects
- Experience managing variations, procurement and subcontractor packages
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive and commercially aware
