The Role:

The client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage up to three projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will come from a subcontracting background, accustomed to taking a hands-on approach and contributing beyond the standard QS role in a fast-paced, practical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and managing cost estimates, budgets, and project forecasts.
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conducting tendering processes, including subcontractor and supplier management.
  • Managing contracts and variations, ensuring compliance with agreements and client requirements.
  • Collaborating closely with site teams, providing support across demolition, soft strip-out, and groundworks projects.
  • Assisting with project planning, scheduling, and reporting as required.
  • Providing commercial input to projects, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in demolition, strip-out, or groundworks projects.
  • Experience estimating and managing projects ranging from £100K to £2M.
  • Comfortable in a hands-on environment with a “get stuck in” attitude.
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Background in subcontracting or smaller-scale construction businesses, with practical on-site experience.
  • Familiarity with JCT, NEC, or other standard construction contracts.
