Job Description

Management Accountant

Recruitment / Consultancy background essential

Central London | £45,000 – £60,000 DOE

Do you have a Accounting background/ Assistant accounting background gained within recruitment, consultancy or a closely related professional services environment?

Are you technically strong, commercially minded and comfortable working with ambitious, outgoing people in a genuinely fast-paced business?

And would you like to join a rapidly growing international company where finance sits right at the heart of commercial decision-making?

We are working with an exceptionally impressive, high-growth business in Central London to recruit a Senior Management Accountant into its expanding finance team.

This is a business we know particularly well and it is an environment that won’t suit everybody — but for the right person, it could be a fantastic opportunity.

They are ambitious, energetic and highly performance-driven. People work hard, success is recognised and rewarded and there is a real buzz around the business. Behind that energy sits a superbly-run organisation which has grown quickly, operates internationally and continues to invest heavily in its infrastructure and people.

The finance function sits closely to the commercial operation and plays an important part in decision-making across the business. This is therefore far more than a traditional month-end role.

The Opportunity

Working closely with an impressive, engaging ACA-qualified FC, you will help provide greater technical strength across the finance function while becoming a key support as the organisation continues to grow internationally.

There is plenty of hands-on accounting involved, but equally there will be opportunities to analyse performance, improve processes, support commercial decision-making and get involved in projects as the business evolves.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts, consolidated reporting and board information
  • Investigating P&L variances and providing meaningful commentary
  • Balance sheet reconciliations including accruals, prepayments, deferred/accrued revenue and fixed assets
  • Managing intercompany balances and foreign exchange movements
  • Supporting forecasting, budgeting and growth modelling
  • Producing team and departmental P&Ls and analysing sales performance
  • Business partnering with operational and commercial leaders
  • Supporting statutory accounts, audit, VAT and corporation tax processes
  • Improving existing finance systems, reporting and processes
  • Supporting and developing more junior members of the finance team
  • Getting involved in international expansion and other ad hoc projects

The business operates across Europe and the US, so there is also the opportunity to gain increasing exposure to international and multi-entity accounting as it grows.

Your Experience

A background within recruitment, consultancy or a closely related professional services environment is important for this role.

This business operates at pace, with Finance working closely alongside a highly commercial sales environment, so we are particularly interested in people who already understand that type of culture and operating model.

You may already be a Senior Management Accountant, or perhaps a strong Management Accountant who feels ready to take on more responsibility.

Ideally, you will:

  • Be ACCA or CIMA qualified, finalist or strongly part-qualified
  • Have excellent core accounting and month-end knowledge
  • Be technically confident but commercially curious
  • Have experience of working in a multi-entity or international environment, although this is not essential
  • Be comfortable challenging existing processes and suggesting better ways of doing things
  • Be confident communicating with people at every level of a business
  • Have strong Excel skills
  • Enjoy working in an energetic, outgoing and highly ambitious environment

Most importantly, this business wants somebody with personality, pace and ambition.

You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, but you should enjoy being part of a sociable, commercial organisation where Finance interacts constantly with the wider business.

Why Consider It?

There is a genuine opportunity here to join a business while it is still scaling rapidly and to develop alongside it.

You will work directly with a strong FC, gain exposure well beyond a narrow Management Accountant remit and have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as both the finance team and international operation develop.

The company also actively recognises and rewards performance and finance employees can participate in wider business incentives.

The role is predominantly office-based in Central London, because being part of the business and its culture genuinely matters here, although some flexibility for one day working from home can be discussed.
