Are you an experienced hospitality finance professional who enjoys being as close to the operation as you are to the numbers? Do you enjoy working with operational leaders, helping them understand what's driving performance rather than simply reporting what happened last month?

We're partnering with a prestigious Central London hospitality venue to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of its on-site finance function. This is a genuinely broad role combining strong financial control with commercial influence. Working closely with the SLT, ownership and Heads of Department, you'll lead the finance function while playing an important role in the wider leadership team. You'll provide the insight, challenge and financial understanding that helps operational teams make better commercial decisions.

This isn't a role for somebody who wants to operate at arm's length from the detail. You'll need to understand the mechanics of hotel finance, enjoy being close to the operation and be equally comfortable discussing departmental performance with an HOD as you are reviewing a balance sheet reconciliation.

The role

  • Monthly management accounts, reporting and meaningful commentary
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
  • Business partnering with the charismatic and supportive GM and operational Heads of Department
  • Analysis of departmental performance across various revenue streams
  • Revenue and income audit, working capital and financial controls
  • Payroll, VAT, audit and statutory requirements
  • Leading and developing the finance team
  • Improving systems, processes and reporting
  • Helping operational managers understand the numbers behind their departments and identify opportunities to improve performance

Your experience

We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have strong experience within hospitality finance and understand the financial mechanics of a self-accounting property. You'll ideally have operated within a relevant environment and understand areas such as memberships, rooms and F&B profitability, income audit, revenue reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting and hotel financial controls.

Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable working with non-finance colleagues. You'll need the confidence to challenge when appropriate, the communication skills to explain financial information without unnecessary jargon and the personality to build strong relationships across the organisation.

You might already be a Financial Controller, or perhaps a strong hospitality Finance Manager/Assistant Financial Controller ready to take ownership of a broader function. Professional qualifications are welcomed, but relevant experience, commercial judgement and the ability to engage with people will be every bit as important.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-quality, reputable and historic Central London hospitality business in a visible role where Finance genuinely contributes to the day-to-day performance of the operation.
