Are you a qualified fund accountant with deep private markets / asset management experience, ready to step into a senior leadership role shaping the operations of a high profile, rapidly scaling climate investment platform? We are looking for an exceptional Fund Controller, Head of Fund Operations & Investor Reporting, to lead and professionalise the end-to-end fund and business operations for one of the most exciting and strategically important net-zero focused venture & growth equity platforms in the market. This senior contract position offers the chance to establish robust operating guidelines, oversee investor-grade reporting, drive the quarterly valuation and performance process, and act as the key senior point of contact for investors, administrators, and stakeholders, all while helping build a next-generation sustainable investment franchise during a period of explosive growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a small, high-calibre operations team delivering accurate, timely quarterly business performance and investor reporting
- Design, implement and evolve the comprehensive operating model and policies for fund, portfolio and management company activities
- Own the full fund operations lifecycle in close partnership with administrators (capital accounts, waterfalls, fee calculations, NAV oversight, distributions, financial reporting and audit coordination)
- Lead the quarterly valuation process, Investment Committee support, and ensure integrity of performance and investment data
- Serve as the senior expert and go-to resource for investor inquiries, performance explanations, and bespoke reporting requests
- Drive major platform scaling initiatives, including new fund/vehicle launches, geographic expansion, and complex product structures
- Champion technology, automation and data improvements to enhance efficiency, controls and investor transparency
- Establish and maintain institutional-grade policies, procedures, controls and best practices aligned with regulatory and market standards
- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior investors, fund administrators, auditors, and cross-functional teams
You will bring
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting skills, including detailed IFRS knowledge
- Significant experience in private markets fund operations/accounting (private equity, growth equity, venture, infrastructure or sustainable/climate funds preferred)
- Proven track record overseeing investor reporting, performance attribution, valuation processes, waterfalls, fee calculations and audit cycles
- Experience establishing operating guidelines, policies and scalable processes for growing fund platforms
- Comfortable communicating complex financial/performance concepts clearly to sophisticated investors and senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated success leading or mentoring small operations/fund accounting teams
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical/financial modelling capabilities with high attention to detail and professional scepticism
- Track record delivering change projects, implementing technology solutions, and improving operational efficiency
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with evolving priorities
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written/verbal/presentation)
