Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing patients' ability to perform daily tasks related to work and life. They conduct assessments, devise treatment plans based on physician referrals, and document patient progress. This encompasses outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.

Essential Functions

  • Review physician referrals and patient medical history to determine therapy needs.
  • Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans according to department protocols.
  • Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment for individual needs.
  • Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment goals and plans as necessary, participating in patient care conferences.
  • Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures.

Required Licensing & Certifications

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of current practice or meet all qualifications for traineeship or temporary license in the state of current practice (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH)

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred)

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition, capabilities and progress.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
  • Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
