Job Summary: Serves as the lead for day-to-day operations and tasks of the department. The Electrophysiology Technologist functions as a scrub tech, circulator and/or monitors patients for electrophysiology procedures under the direction of a cardiologist. Analyzes and interprets collected procedural data, provides effective patient care at all acuity levels. Assists in precepting new employees and students to department’s organization and function. Maintains inventory and charges appropriately for procedures, performs all procedures per protocol, participates in quality assurance and performance improvement programs as requested. Equitable participation in call coverage required if applicable at site.
Essential Functions:
- Age Appropriate Competency: The employee is able to demonstrate general competency in providing Age Appropriate Care as indicated by the ability to plan, provide and evaluate care based on the physiological, psychosocial, intellectual and safety developmental needs of the patient.
- Utilises appropriate processes and documents in accordance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory standards for each patient admitted, transferred or discharged for the invasive procedural area.
- Demonstrates ability to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Demonstrates the ability to function in all roles of the electrophysiology laboratory (scrub, monitor, and circulate).
- Functions as a qualified team member (QTM) in the administration of moderate sedation under the direct supervision of the physician where applicable.
- Provides care in compliance with established policies, procedures and standards of care. This may include administration of medications, contrast, starting IVs, IV fluids under the direction of the physician or nurse as prescribed or indicated by the patient's condition and/or physician orders.

Education: Completion of Cardiovascular Technology program (preferred).
Required Licensing & Certifications:
- BLS Basic Life Support, ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS or PALS required based on specialty assignment).
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) (required).
Experience: 2 years of electrophysiology experience (required).
