Job Summary
The Advanced Psychoeducation Specialist provides direct patient care under the guidance of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH).
The role includes clinical and administrative supervision.
Essential Functions
- Facilitates psychoeducation groups and provides individual activities tailored to specific patient needs.
- May participate in family meetings and treatment team meetings.
- Offers community resource knowledge and coordinates activities.
- Completes assessments, care planning, and discharge planning in collaboration with the Social Worker team.
- Provides one‑on‑one patient safety companion services and patient checks as needed.
- Participates in continued education and in‑service training.
- Participates in enterprise‑wide workgroups.
Education
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Expressive Therapy (Music, Dance/Movement), Counseling, or Human Services (required).
- Licensing & Certifications
- Must be licensed, certified, or registered as appropriate by state and national licensing boards in one of the following (required):
- Care Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (CTRS)
- Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
- Therapy Credentialed Supervisor (ATCS)
- Music Therapist‑Board Certified (MT-BC)
- Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT)
- Occupational Therapist Licensed (OTR/L)
Experience
- 1 year of experience in healthcare, social services, or human services setting (required).
