Avanti Fields School is seeking an inspiring Geography Subject Lead with middle leadership responsibility, working with the Head of Humanities and History Lead. This is a permanent, full-time role with a focus on leading a high-quality Geography curriculum that is ambitious, well sequenced and inclusive, promoting curiosity about the world and strong pupil outcomes.
The successful candidate will lead curriculum planning, assessment and resourcing within Geography, monitor standards and drive subject improvement. You will support and develop colleagues, promote high expectations in teaching and learning, and embed literacy, numeracy and digital skills across the subject while modelling excellent classroom practice. This is a leadership role within a values-driven school community that encourages professional growth and a focus on character, care and purpose.

Avanti Fields School is an all-through, faith-designated (Hindu) state school which opened Year 7 in 2018 and Nursery/Reception in 2022. The school is expanding toward a full cohort of 1,320 and aims to continue its journey to outstanding.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop a high-quality Geography curriculum with strong progress, achievement and inclusive outcomes for all pupils.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the subject, including curriculum planning, self-evaluation, health and safety, and contribution to whole-school priorities.
- Line manage, support and appraise Geography staff, fostering professional growth, collaboration and shared accountability.
- Model excellent classroom practice through high-quality teaching, assessment and behaviour management, underpinned by strong subject knowledge.
- Promote safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external partners in line with statutory and Trust expectations.
- Able to self-start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team—whether led or leading.
- QTS qualified.
- Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain high-quality teaching and learning.
