Bompas & Parr is seeking an ideas-led Junior Art Director with a strong foundation in applied graphic design and visual storytelling. This role suits a creatively ambitious designer able to translate concepts into compelling graphic, digital and experiential outputs, working across branding, campaigns and live experiential projects from concept to delivery.

Objectives for the Role

  • Create graphic design and visual assets from concept through to final delivery
  • Support art direction and image‑making, including concepts, treatments and production
  • Contribute ideas and creative input in team discussions
  • Translate briefs and initial ideas into clear visual layouts and design assets
  • Develop visual decks and moodboards for proposals and client presentations
  • Produce graphic design work across digital, print and experiential formats
  • Produce in‑house content for digital, social, press and event collateral
  • Assist with on‑site delivery to ensure the creative is executed as intended
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and studio teams to evolve brand aesthetics
  • Research and share cultural and visual inspiration with the wider studio
  • Manage tasks across multiple projects with guidance from senior team members

About You

  • 2 to 4 years experience
  • Strong applied graphic design skills with a concept‑led portfolio
  • Experience taking projects from ideation to production
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of real‑world design and production constraints
  • Ability to sketch and communicate ideas clearly
  • Agency or studio experience
  • Film or moving image experience
  • Basic knowledge of 3D tools
  • Photography experience
  • Familiarity with AI and emerging creative technologies

General

  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required
  • To be able to speak knowledgeably and articulately about all aspects of the work of Bompas & Parr and to support the organisation’s principal aims and objectives
  • To communicate regularly and effectively with the Directors and to seek support from appropriate staff at the earliest opportunity should problems arise

Please note, due to the nature of the role you will be expected to work occasional evenings and weekends. There may also be the requirement to travel internationally.

Summary of terms and conditions

  • Salary band £30,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
  • This is full time permanent position with a 6 Month probationary period
  • The post is based in Bompas & Parr’s studio in Barbican
  • 25 days of annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays
  • At Christmas Bompas & Parr are closed between Christmas and New Year this uses 3 days of annual leave
  • One of these days is a ‘wellness’ day which can be taken on short notice and is for your wellbeing.
  • You acquire 1 day of holiday for each year you work (capped at 5 days)
  • At 2 years you can buy 5 days of holiday
  • Death in Service cover post probationary period
  • Post probationary period, employees qualify for Private Medical insurance
  • After five years of service you earn a one month paid sabbatical
  • After ten years of service you earn a three month paid sabbatical
  • Staff lunches are provided in the studio every Wednesday
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Allowance following 2 years at Bompas & Parr
