Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier’s European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier’s Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.
In your role you will,

  • The role is intended as an Interior Specialist role, but fall under the job category of Mechanic
  • Adhere to Bombardier General Work Requirements
  • Fabricate, install and refurbish aircraft interior equipment and furnishings per work order or customer request. This may include items such as carpeting and upholstery on seats, card tables, side panels, glare shield, aircraft cabinets, card tables and side panels
  • Comply with environmental health / safety policies / procedures
  • Participate in 5-S activities
  • Perform work in a safe and timely manner anddocument all work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations
  • Perform mechanical / electrical removals and installations
  • Assist with other maintenance disciplines
  • Travel for international assignments or assist with maintenance at off-site locations if required
  • Perform additional work on drop-ins and planned maintenance within the facility during slow periods of unplanned workif required
  • Clean Aircraft as required
  • Coordinate workload, overtime and job assignments for team members in assigned functional area
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to assigned employees in order to promote acquisition of technical proficiency and trouble shoot problems for assigned area(s)
  • Monitor day-to-day activities for assigned area and report issues and risks to immediate supervisor
  • Provide verbal and written turnover reports indicating status of work progress
  • Oversee employee activities and document as required using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Sheet metal Repair Manuals (SRMs), Service Bulletin (SBs), scripts and tally books
  • Assist in establishing a training plan for assigned area
As our ideal candidate
  • You typicallyhavea minimum of 5years of Interiors experience (i.e. previous wood finish and soft goods experience (i.e., auto, RV, boat, etc.) ora minimum of 3 years of experience with a minimum of 2 years leadership / supervisory experience
  • You typically have a minimum of 1 year of corporate aircraft experience (Bombardier experience preferred)
  • You exhibit effective leadership skills
  • You demonstrate planning / organizational and time management skills necessary to prioritize, assign and coordinate workload of team members within a multiple project setting
  • You have the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned employees, other business areas, contractors and customers
  • You will demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • You have Basic PC skills
  • You will demonstrate the ability to communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status
  • You have experience interpreting engineering drawings
  • You will demonstrate the ability to break down cabinets remove hardware, inlay etc.
  • You will demonstrate ability to strip finish utilising heat and scraper
  • You have experience with sanding and prepping raw veneer and hardwood for finish including touching up defects in veneer
  • You have the ability to mix match and apply stains and paints on new veneers
  • You have knowledge on spraying polyester base coats and urethane top coats
  • You have experience with Aircraft touch up
  • You will demonstrate the ability to mask and unmask components for finish process
