This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK.

The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site.

Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier's Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.

Role Summary

The Health & Safety Apprentice will support the development and promotion of a positive safety culture across the organisation while completing the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.

The apprentice will gain practical experience in workplace health, safety and environmental management, assisting with inspections, investigations, training administration, reporting and employee engagement activities.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a competent SHE professional.

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Health & Safety Administration
  • Maintain accurate health, safety and environmental records, reports and documentation.
  • Monitor and track safety actions, incidents, near misses and employee concerns.
  • Support the coordination of health & safety training, inductions and awareness programmes.
  • Safety Management Systems & Compliance
  • Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Support compliance with company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
  • Inspections, Risk Management & Investigations
  • Participate in workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Assist with hazard identification and the implementation of appropriate control measures.
  • Support incident investigations and help communicate lessons learned.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with employees, contractors and other stakeholders to encourage safe working practices.
  • Assist in delivering toolbox talks, safety communications and presentations.
  • Provide guidance and signpost colleagues to relevant support where appropriate.
  • Continuous Improvement & Apprenticeship Development
  • Research SHE best practice and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Complete the Safety, Health & Environment Technician Level 3 apprenticeship programme and apply learning within the workplace.
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviours while developing a career in Health & Safety

  • This role includes completion of the

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship delivered by Deere Apprenticeships, a specialist provider of Health, Safety and Environmental training.

The programme is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a competent SHE professional and positive safety influencer within the workplace.

The apprenticeship typically lasts 12 months, followed by an End-Point Assessment (EPA).

Throughout the programme, you will attend structured masterclasses covering topics such as Health & Safety Culture, Hazard Identification and Risk Management, Inspections and Investigations, Presentation and Communication, Research and Best Practice, Stakeholder Engagement, Financial Implications and Ethics.

You will receive dedicated support through monthly one-to-one sessions with a Personal Tutor helping you apply your learning in the workplace, build your portfolio of evidence and achieve your personal and professional development goals.

The End-Point Assessment consists of

  • A knowledge test.
  • A professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence.
  • A work-based project report, presentation and questioning.
